Swanwick Retreat

How to train in the Bodhisattva’s path to enlightenment

A weekend retreat with Gen Kelsang Zopa

April 27, 28, 29, 2012
Swanwick Retreat Centre, Metchosin, BC

Many people have the compassionate wish to benefit others, but few understand how to accomplish this effectively in daily life.  Bodhisattvas are friends of the world who have such a strong compassion that they are able to transform all their daily activities into a means to benefit others.  By practicing the six perfections of giving, moral discipline, patience, effort, concentration and wisdom we can transform our ordinary, self-centred intentions into the supreme good heart, our ordinary confused view into profound wisdom, and our ordinary way of life into a Bodhisattva’s way of life.  In this way, we shall attain the supreme inner peace of enlightenment, which is the real meaning of our human life.

What is meditative retreat?

During retreat we temporarily withdraw from our usual routines and activities and learn how to relax and develop peaceful, positive minds through meditation.  In this way we create space in our mind and develop a fresh perspective on life.  Each day of the retreat will include commentary, guided meditation, and discussion.  There will also be time to enjoy the peaceful, grounds of Swanwick Retreat Centre and walks to the shoreline with spectacular views of ocean and mountains.
